Working with Videotour
We have devoted great effort to make Videoutour simple, clear and easy for use nevertheless we prepared a short manual for explanation how to use all the functions offered by the application. On the next page in the section Help there are described the special functions of the web page, as e.g. My trips, Tips and Recommended routes.
After loading the application you are welcomed by a moderator who is the guide through the application and short help. You may switch off the actually played help by means of a cross in the right upper corner and if you wish to switch off the video help completely click the push button "Show moderator".
The main windows of the application is divided in two parts. At the left are fields for entering the start and end points, eventually transit points, push button for search, switch on of detailed search, switch on / off of the moderator, route itinerary, detailed specification of the route and at the end actual duration of the route. At the right is a chart depicting the South Bohemia which you may shift by buttons at the left upper corner at any direction and zoom in or out and by buttons in the right upper corner you may switch over to a standard chart, satellite chart or their combination.
After entering the start and target destination the application shows on the chart optimum route between these places. If it is impossible to find exactly the place which your entered, there will be shown a pull-down menu with some proposals for that place. If the application can’t find the entered place, try to find some other place in the vicinity. The place search is depending on the settings in detailed search, where you can select the region where the search is performed: Europe, Czech Republic and South Bohemia.
After entering the valid places the final points will be marked on the chart with violet targets which are fixed. You may catch the route at any place by the mouse and drag it over to any other place – there will be created a deviation marked by gray target. You may cancel this deviation by clicking on this target.
Along the route are shown gray icons, indicating single place worth visiting. By clicking on the push button for detailed search there will be shown a window with settings for influencing the indication of these icons. The scope of search setup the distance from the actual route, in which will be shown the place to visit.
Furthermore, you may select by single click in the list of categories, and the offer of icons on the chart will be immediately redrawn. In case you wish to select more categories at once keep during the click the key Ctrl pushed down. The push button Select all then will mark all categories at once.
If you don’t want to be limited only on the surrounding of the route, check the Show all and you will immediately see all the available places for visit, regardless of course of your route.
By clicking on the brown icon of the place to visit will show a "bubble", where will start to play a short video with information about the given place. With some videos you may find in the tags additional or useful information. By clicking on the video you may enlarge it to the whole application window. Repeating click will return it to its original size. If you are interested by the place, you may put it by clicking on Add to the trip into your route. Some places are not directly accessible by car, therefore after clicking on the Add the route there are shown the nearest parking places and you may add the most convenient by clicking on some of them. Only then is the place added to the route.
During the whole time of planning you see at its left part the itinerary, duration of the trip without visiting each place and after click on the route also the exact plan for driving with car. If you are satisfied with your plan and you wish f.e. to send it your friend for approval then use the button Link to actual route in the lower part of the application. You will be shown an URL-address and if somebody will enter this address he will see your route within one hour after its last adjustment.
If you want to store the route "for ever", e.g. because you want to use it only in the future but you don’t want to forget it then push the button Save route. You will be shown a link, where you will always find your route or you will have it at your disposal in the section My trips, which is described on the next help page.
During the whole time when your are working with the application, your actually proposed route is continuously stored and if you e.g. go away from the proposed route to the section News and then return back to application, your route will be loaded in its final version. You can change it by entering new start and end. The proposed route will be deleted automatically after one hour since the last activity, the same as after its saving. If you open saved route there will be created its actual working copy and you work not with the stored route, which remains unchanged, but you create a new route using the stored route only as template.
